About Hakizetu Organization
Hakizetu Tanzania is a non-governmental organization focused on making a positive impact in the Lake and Central Zone, Central Zone, and Northern regions of Tanzania mainland. Since its establishment in 2016, Hakizetu has been dedicated to implementing various projects and initiatives to empower individuals and communities. One of their prominent initiatives is the Economic Empowerment Project, which provides vocational training to school dropouts, young mothers, and survivors of violence.
Through this project, Hakizetu aims to break the cycles of poverty by equipping individuals with vocational and life skills, enabling them to make informed decisions for their well-being. Mentorship and life skill sessions are an integral part of the program, guiding beneficiaries on building their brand, finding markets for their products, and engaging with customers. Hakizetu also offers microfinance services, providing seed grants to unemployed individuals or groups, particularly focusing on young people and women.
These grants, along with financial and business education, aim to empower recipients to start their own businesses and become self-sufficient. Additionally, Hakizetu's Entrepreneurship Skills program offers young men and women the knowledge, training, and resources to start and grow small and micro enterprises. Through an informal approach, beneficiaries learn from successful local business owners within their communities.
Hakizetu tackles the issue of sanitation management through their Nabaki Shule Initiative, aiming to educate girls and communities about menstruation management and provide reusable sanitary pads to vulnerable girls. The organization also runs projects like Msichana Thabiti, which supports adolescent girls in facilitating successful transitions to womanhood, and The Living Better Today Initiative, which mobilizes communities to prevent gender-based violence and promote sexual and reproductive health and rights. Hakizetu's efforts also extend to providing legal aid and social counseling to community members affected by violence or facing legal problems, such as family disputes or land ownership issues.
They have a network of paralegals accessible in rural areas. Hakizetu Tanzania strives to create lasting change and improve the lives of individuals and communities through their diverse programs and initiatives.
