The Halima Sadia Award was established in 2019 by Sadia Naseem, a former student of Eleanor Roosevelt High School, to empower students from her hometown in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Named in honor of her grandmother, Halima Sadia, this award embodies values of strength, perseverance, and generosity. Each year, it recognizes two deserving high school seniors based on their merit and application responses. Award recipients can choose between a cash scholarship or the latest Apple MacBook laptop to support their educational journey.
To be eligible, applicants must be graduating seniors from Eleanor Roosevelt High School, planning to enroll in a full-time college or university with a major in a STEM field, and maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The application for the 2024 award is open until May 10, 2024, at midnight EDT. The Halima Sadia Award not only highlights academic excellence but also fosters community spirit, reflecting the core values of giving and empathy inherited from Halima Sadia’s legacy.
