Hambric Acoustics

Stephen Hambric is an independent consultant, educator, and researcher specializing in vibration, acoustics, flow-induced noise, signal processing, and noise control. A retired professor in Penn State’s Graduate Program in Acoustics and former director of its Center for Acoustics and Vibration, he serves government agencies and commercial companies, and provides expert-witness services in litigation.

His consulting work includes vibration and sound modeling using finite element, boundary element, and statistical energy analysis; structural fatigue assessment; measurement planning and analysis; and evaluation of vibration, sound pressure, and flow-induced wall pressures. He also prepares expert reports and testimony on measurement standards, noise requirements, intellectual property disputes, and remediation.

Hambric teaches INCE-USA online noise control courses and delivers one-day and customized short courses, online or on-site, covering vibration, acoustics, noise control, modeling, measurement, and signal processing. His website features interactive demonstrators that let users explore sound fields, structural vibration, and frequency spectra. It also shares research videos, tutorials, books, and articles on topics including structural vibration, sound radiation, flow-induced effects, and noise-control treatments.
