Hamden’s Partnership for Young Children (HPYC) is a community coalition advocating for children from prenatal development through age nine and supporting the families who care for them. Bringing together public and private agencies, parents, educators, and community members, HPYC works to promote healthy development, help children reach their learning potential, and advance equity, community change, and policy reform in Hamden, Connecticut. Its network includes more than 35 partners, such as United Way of Greater New Haven, Birth To Three, All Our Kin, Quinnipiac Valley Health Department, Hamden Public Schools, and the Town of Hamden.
HPYC also serves as Hamden’s local governance partner for the Early Start Connecticut Grant. The organization provides families with information about child care and preschool options, before- and after-school care, financial assistance, kindergarten registration, child development, family health, special needs, and community services. Additional resources support prenatal, infant, and toddler development, parents, and educators.
Through initiatives including its Parent Advisory Collaborative and Parent Ambassadors, HPYC encourages families to participate in shaping services and support for Hamden’s young children
