Hammerheads Aerobatic Training is a Connecticut-based flight training provider offering personalized, one-on-one instruction for pilots interested in aerobatics, spin proficiency, or tailwheel flying. Based at Windham Airport (KIJD) in Windham, the business aims to help students progress according to their experience and goals.
Its basic and competition aerobatic training covers skills such as spins, aileron rolls, loops, slow rolls, hammerheads, and Immelmans. Instruction can suit newcomers learning foundational maneuvers as well as pilots preparing for competition. The Super Decathlon used for training is capable of aerobatics up to the Sportsman level, and lessons also address entering and positioning within the aerobatic box.
Hammerheads provides spin training for pilots seeking experience or greater proficiency, including flight instructors pursuing a CFI spin endorsement. Tailwheel endorsements are also available for pilots who are not seeking aerobatic instruction.
The training is led by Chris, a commercial pilot with an instrument rating, a flight instructor, and a licensed aircraft mechanic. His background includes flying Pitts Specials in regional aerobatic contests on the East Coast.
