Jeff Hammond

Hammond-Batts is a family organization that preserves and celebrates the history of the descendants of Milton and Martha Hammond and William and Sarah Batts, whose families were connected to Hammond, Texas. The site recounts how, after emancipation in 1865, land was granted to the families by Dr. Ben F. Hammond. Over time, family members acquired additional land, eventually owning more than 500 acres in a community that continues to be known as Hammond, Texas.

Since establishing their family reunion in 1974, the Hammond-Batts families have gathered annually to honor their shared heritage and strengthen family connections. The organization shares reunion news, event information, historical material about its forebears, and a photo gallery. Its website also features information about the John Gibson III Scholarship, Bethlehem Baptist Church, and family memorials. Visitors can find reunion merchandise through the webshop, including Throw Back Family Reunion T-shirts, and information about the annual family fee. The 49th reunion is scheduled for July 11–13, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana, under the theme “Better Together, Stronger Together!”.
