Hanaru

Hanaru is a women’s health charity working to help girls in India overcome menstrual discrimination and continue their education. The organisation focuses on girls in Delhi’s slums and rural communities, where poverty, stigma and limited access to menstrual products can contribute to school absences and dropouts. Hanaru combines practical support with education, aiming to give girls greater confidence, knowledge and opportunity to reach their full potential.

Its core programme distributes packs of five high-quality, reusable sanitary napkins. Alongside the products, Hanaru provides menstrual education, including guidance on how to use and care for the napkins. The charity’s work also addresses social taboos around menstruation and encourages wider community involvement, including men’s participation in creating change.
