About Handweavers' Guild of Connecticut
Founded in 1948, the Handweavers’ Guild of Connecticut is a nonprofit organization that brings together handweavers, spinners, and other fiber artists. Open to people of all experience levels, the Guild fosters a welcoming community where members can exchange ideas, share knowledge, encourage one another, and develop their creativity and fiber-art techniques. Anyone with an interest in fiber arts is welcome to join or attend a meeting to learn more.
The Guild holds five meetings each year, on the third Saturday every other month from September through May. Meetings take place at the Congregational Church of South Glastonbury in South Glastonbury, Connecticut. Its activities and resources support members’ learning and creative practice through study groups, education, teacher resources, ratings, study grants, equipment rentals, and offers for members and friends. The Guild also shares information about local-area meetings, membership advantages, and opportunities to buy or sell equipment and materials. Its biennial show showcases fiber art, and the Guild recognizes outstanding work through an award.
