Happenstance Theater is a professional brand committed to creating unique and visually stunning theatrical experiences. Established in 2006, they have been devising, producing, and touring their original, performer-created works since 2012. Led by Artistic Co-Directors Mark Jaster and Sabrina Mandell, Happenstance Theater's ensemble uses movement, silence, theatrical clown, music, text, physical comedy, and beauty to elevate the audience's encounter beyond the ordinary.

With a focus on eternal themes of life, death, and the ephemeral, Happenstance Theater takes inspiration from the past and re-contextualizes it in their performances. Their multi-talented performers craft all aspects of their pieces from concept to realization, resulting in captivating and whimsical productions. From the gut-busting hilarity described by the Washington City Paper to their reputation as DC's leading peddler of whimsy, Happenstance Theater's work has received critical acclaim.

Winner of multiple Helen Hayes Awards, Happenstance Theater is dedicated to creating shows that connect with the audience on a deep and meaningful level. Their performances transcend the daily and mundane, inviting viewers into the realms of dreams, poetry, and art.
