Harakeke is a privately owned early childhood education centre for children aged two to five, set in the countryside between Motueka and Upper Moutere in New Zealand’s Tasman District. The centre provides early learning and care in a setting shaped by its philosophy of nurturing children, families and community. Its name comes from harakeke, the native New Zealand flax plant, which the centre regards as a symbol of family, community, nurturing and learning together. This idea is reflected in a Māori whakataukī featured on its website, which emphasizes the importance of people.

Harakeke describes its teaching staff as professional and friendly, and invites families to learn about the centre’s vision, team and approach. It provides information about its educational programme and enrolment options, along with news and a photo gallery to help families see what is happening at the centre. The website also offers details on child protection, directions and an Education Review Office report. Harakeke is a green-gold Enviroschool, reflecting an environmental focus.
