About Hararghe Health Research
Hararghe Health Research Partnership (HHR) is a collaborative effort between Haramaya University (HU) and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The partnership aims to advance health sciences research and inform health policy in maternal and child health in Ethiopia. Haramaya University, one of the pioneers of higher education in Ethiopia, has been conducting research for over six decades and focuses on the fields of agriculture, nutrition, health, and medical sciences.
The university publishes several journals, including the East African Journal of Health and Biomedical Sciences. Additionally, the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), established in 2014, conducts research on disease spread, nutrition, and traditional and modern medicines. EPHI provides evidence-based information for public health policy formation.
The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is a leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. The school has also partnered with Haramaya University to develop the "Hararghe Health Research partnership. " With a focus on education, research, and capacity building, this partnership is set to make significant contributions to the field of public health in Ethiopia
