HardenedBSD

HardenedBSD is an open-source operating system project focused on developing and distributing hardened versions of FreeBSD. It provides source code, installation images, and a ports collection, with releases and development branches available for users and contributors. The project publishes installers for platforms including amd64 and offers guidance on verifying downloaded build artifacts using SSH signatures and tools available in the operating system’s base system.

HardenedBSD’s work includes security-focused changes to the operating system, such as improvements to system configuration and hardening features. Its development also encompasses ports, infrastructure, and supporting projects. Source repositories are hosted through Radicle, with GitHub mirroring available for the main source and ports repositories. The project maintains download infrastructure and provides a Tor Onion Service endpoint for its Radicle seed node.

HardenedBSD serves people who want to install, build, or contribute to a security-oriented operating system. Its status reports share engineering updates, infrastructure changes, and development plans, while documentation helps users access releases and validate their integrity.
