The Harrisburg Civil War Round Table (HCWRT) is a Central Pennsylvania organization dedicated to Civil War scholarship, battlefield preservation, and community education. Founded in 1959, it brings together historians, educators, and people of all backgrounds who want to explore the conflict, its people, and its lasting legacy. The group has hosted nearly 600 meetings and welcomed hundreds of expert speakers, offering members and guests opportunities to learn from leading historians and authors.

HCWRT’s programming includes monthly lectures, battlefield tours, field trips, and historical preservation activities. The organization supports battlefield and historic education projects, with particular emphasis on sites in the Harrisburg region. Members can also take part in volunteer activities, such as cleaning Civil War gravestones, and explore history through the group’s book sales and events. Its monthly newsletter, The Dispatch, shares upcoming programs, speaker profiles, historical articles, and Civil War news. Whether newcomers or longtime students of the era, participants can join, attend events, volunteer, and connect with a community committed to preserving and understanding America’s Civil War history.
