Ebara Hatakeyama Museum is an art museum in Shirokanedai, Minato City, Tokyo, established to make businessman Hatakeyama Isssei’s collection accessible to the public. Its holdings focus on Japanese and East Asian antiques, especially objects associated with the tea ceremony, and include six works designated as National Treasures. The collection also encompasses paintings, calligraphy, lacquerware, viewing objects and materials related to Noh theatre.
The museum presents rotating exhibitions that explore its collection and broader connections between Japanese and international art. Recent programme themes include the influence of Japanese art on Western artists, as well as historic tea utensils and imported objects. Alongside exhibitions, the museum offers events and learning activities, with online tickets available for admission and selected events. Visitors can find practical information about transport, admission, facilities and membership through the museum’s visitor services. A museum shop and tea area add to the visit. Operated by the Ebara Hatakeyama Memorial Foundation, the museum also supports the study and exchange of Japanese art and Japonisme through cultural and research-related initiatives.
