Hattem Roeit

Hattem Roeit is a rowing association based in Hattem, whose members practise competitive and recreational sloop rowing on the River IJssel between Zwolle and Hattem. The club describes sloop rowing as a team sport that combines strength and coordination, and its crews compete in events throughout the Netherlands and beyond. Many races count toward the competition organised by the Dutch Federation of Sloop Rowing (FSN).

The association has around 50 members and trains from Hattem harbour using two boats: the whaler d’Isela and the Voorganck, a Kuiken sloop named after its designer, Kees Kuiken. Each boat has a women’s team and a men’s team, with eight rowers and a coxswain aboard. Hattem Roeit is known for both sporting performance and a welcoming club atmosphere, and is supported by sponsors.

People interested in trying the sport can arrange a no-obligation introduction, with club members explaining the boat and the river. The Zwolse Grachtenrace is closely connected to the association: it originated with Hattem Roeit and is now run by a separate foundation.
