Hatteras Youth

Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund is a foundation dedicated to supporting the educational needs of students on Hatteras Island. Its mission is to provide grants for elementary and secondary education when other public or private funding sources are unavailable. By focusing its resources on local students, the fund helps address learning needs that might otherwise go unmet.

The foundation offers grant opportunities for projects and educational support, with information about current and past grant programs available through its website. Examples highlighted include a health science project-based learning grant and support for an Appalachian storyteller visit at CHES. The fund also shares news about its work and promotes community involvement through events and fundraising activities, including the Surfin’ Turkey 5K.

Community members can support the organization by donating, volunteering, participating in events, sponsoring a race, or learning about grant applications. Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund centers its efforts on helping local children access educational opportunities, relying on community engagement to extend its impact.
