Have a Heart Equine Sanctuary is a nonprofit animal sanctuary based in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Its mission is to provide safety, care and rehabilitation for horses that have been abused, abandoned or become unmanageable for their owners. The sanctuary also offers a safe, loving home to other farm animals, where they can live out their days.
The organization supports rescued horses through several community programs. People can adopt a horse through its adoption process or sponsor a horse to help support its care. The sanctuary also welcomes volunteers and provides ways for supporters to contribute through donations, sponsorships, its wish list and legacy giving. Owners who need help can contact the sanctuary about surrendering a horse, while members of the public can report suspected animal abuse. Have a Heart shares updates about its animals and activities on social media and invites supporters to follow its work. Located on Farm 416, Brakkefontein, the sanctuary is open on weekdays and Saturday mornings, with Sunday visits available by appointment.
