Hawai'i America250 Commission

Hawai‘i America 250 is a dynamic initiative celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence through a variety of engaging events and educational programs. Established by an Executive Order from Governor Josh Green in 2023, the Hawai‘i America250 Commission coordinates statewide efforts to commemorate the Semiquincentennial. Comprised of nineteen members representing diverse stakeholders across the Islands, including local government officials and educational leaders, the Commission emphasizes the importance of American independence and constitutional governance.

The initiative offers signature programs, including Revolutionary Times and Voices of the Revolution, which aim to deepen public understanding of key historical principles, promote citizenship, and honor the sacrifices of military service members throughout history. Through various mediums such as digital and printed materials, symposia, and community outreach, Hawai‘i America 250 cultivates awareness of American history and the ongoing quest for liberty and justice. This celebration serves as a platform for education, reflection, and engagement for all residents and visitors in Hawaiʻi.
