The Hawaiian Astronomical Society (HAS) is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization that has been promoting astronomy in Hawaii since 1949. As an affiliate of the Astronomical League, HAS offers membership to anyone interested in astronomy. The society engages in a wide range of observing activities, such as building telescopes, capturing images of deep-sky objects, and observing stellar occultations.

They even coordinate observations between islands and facilitate radio communication with astronauts and cosmonauts. HAS holds monthly meetings at the Bishop Museum Planetarium, featuring talks by professional astronomers and engaging presentations by club members. Members stay informed through the monthly newsletter, The Astronews, and enjoy exclusive discounts on subscriptions to Sky & Telescope and Astronomy magazines.

The society also organizes dark-sky star parties, providing opportunities for members to share their knowledge and compare telescopes. Furthermore, members have access to the club's telescopes for a nominal fee. HAS actively contributes to public outreach, hosting observing sessions at the Bishop Museum and organizing star parties for schools and other interested groups.

Join HAS today to explore the wonders of astronomy and contribute to the thriving astronomy community in Hawaii. Visit their official website at https://www. hawastsoc.
