Hawkins Guitar

Hawkins Handmade Guitars is a Virginia Beach, Virginia, guitar-building and repair business founded by luthier Brian Hawkins, who has made and restored guitars and other stringed instruments since 1997. The company creates custom handmade guitars tailored to each player, using selected, aged, air-dried tonewood and a proprietary X-bracing system designed to distribute tension across the acoustic guitar body. Its instruments include acoustic and electric models, as well as guitalele and parlor designs, with sound as the primary focus.

Hawkins also operates a full-service repair facility, offering guitar repairs, restorations, setups and tone shaping. Its luthier school provides hands-on instruction through guitar-building and repair classes, setup courses, pickup-winding classes, and other programs, including acoustic, electric, ukulele and guitalele building. Additional offerings include handwound pickups, tonewood, used guitars and music-store products. Serving musicians, collectors and players across Hampton Roads and beyond, Hawkins welcomes visitors to its Virginia Beach location on weekdays and offers custom commissions by phone or email.
