HCEMM, the Hungarian Centre of Excellence for Molecular Medicine, is a leading institution focused on cutting-edge research and development in the field of healthy aging. Incorporated by the Biological Research Center Szeged, the Semmelweis University in Budapest, and the University of Szeged, HCEMM is at the forefront of molecular approaches for diagnostics and treatment related to healthy aging. With the support of the European Molecular Biological Laboratory (EMBL), HCEMM has achieved National Laboratory status in Hungary.

The research at HCEMM is conducted by specialized research groups and advanced core facilities. The institution's primary focus is on three pillars of non-infectious aging-related diseases, including Immuno-inflammatory, Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases, as well as Genomic Instability and Cancer. Additionally, a fourth pillar addressing infectious diseases with co-morbidities is being established in 2021.

HCEMM works closely with EMBL, and its research groups are assisted by advanced core facilities, including Functional Cell Biology and Immunology, Single Cell Omics, In-vivo Imaging, and the planned addition of Scientific Computing in 2022.
