Hcmf

Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (hcmf//) is the UK’s largest international festival of new and experimental music. Held over ten days each November in Huddersfield, the festival presents more than 50 events, bringing together performances, installations, exhibitions, talks and workshops. Its programme explores new music and related contemporary art forms, offering audiences opportunities to encounter adventurous work and diverse artistic perspectives.

Alongside its annual festival, hcmf// runs a year-round Learning & Participation programme and provides creative opportunities for people to engage with contemporary music. The organisation aims to reach a wide audience, support new artistic experiences and contribute actively to its cultural community. It also works to reduce its environmental impact and make progress towards sustainability.

The hcmf// online shop offers publications connected with contemporary music and sound art. Available titles include Hausmusik Kollektiv, a collection of 29 scores contributed during the 2020 pandemic lockdown; a companion book to Claudia Molitor’s installation Listen To My World; and Seeing and Listening, volumes from the Sounds Now network that foreground perspectives on inclusion and diversity in contemporary music and sound art.
