About The Honourable Company of Master Mariners
The Honourable Company of Master Mariners is a prestigious City of London Livery Company, established in 1926 by Sir Robert Burton-Chadwick. Our mission is to enhance the reputation of the Master Mariners in the maritime community, foster collaboration between the Merchant Navy and Royal Navy, and provide advice on various maritime matters. As an Honourable Company, we are recognized for our commitment to maintaining a high standard of professionalism and conduct among British Merchant Navy officers.
Through our committee structure and Court, we aim to increase engagement at the director level, formalize the Apprenticeship Mentoring Scheme, develop membership structures for career support, and strengthen ties with the Lord Mayor and City of London Corporation. Additionally, we aspire to establish our second floating Livery Hall in the near future. With a rich history, our Company proudly showcases silver gifts generously bestowed by existing companies in the City of London in our Courtroom cabinets.
