About Health Excellence Action Network
The Health Equity Action Network (HEAN) is a pioneering national consortium funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), dedicated to enhancing health equity among communities facing multiple chronic conditions. Comprised of 11 specialized research centers across the United States, HEAN focuses on the prevention and management of chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and certain cancers, particularly in underserved populations, including BIPOC communities.
By breaking traditional research silos, HEAN promotes innovative solutions and collaborates with community partners to address the underlying factors contributing to health disparities, including limited access to healthcare and nutritious food. The Network also includes a national Resource Coordinating Center, ensuring comprehensive collaboration and resource sharing among its members. Through rigorous research and targeted community engagement, HEAN aims to significantly improve health outcomes and foster equitable healthcare access for all.
