About Health Access Initiative
Health Access Initiative (HAI) is a dedicated organization of young volunteers committed to promoting sustainable community health in Benin. Registered on August 5, 2022, under number 2022/3310/DEP-LIT/SG/SAG-ASSOC, as a non-profit non-governmental organization in Benin, HAI strives for a fair world where social inequalities related to health are reduced, and all individuals have control over their own health.
HAI provides support for autonomy, enabling real changes in healthcare access in Benin. The organization advocates for favorable policy conditions for vulnerable populations, taking a multilateral approach involving civil society, the government, and the private sector.
Focused on public health, water, hygiene, sanitation, food security, climate change, participatory action research, and social justice, HAI operates in rural, peri-urban, and urban areas. With a team led by Martine F. SONDJO overseeing disaster management and epidemic response programs, HAI has mobilized 254 volunteers, completed 9 projects, and currently runs 4 projects with 8 partners.
