About Health Justice Initiative
The Health Justice Initiative (HJI) is a dynamic organization working towards creating a more inclusive and equitable public health system, both locally and globally. Launched in July 2020 in South Africa, the HJI advocates for positive legislative reforms supporting Universal Health Coverage and addresses the structural determinants of ill health. Through the use of law, research, and advocacy, the HJI ensures fair access to lifesaving medical technologies and promotes transparency in the healthcare sector.
The organization is guided by a dedicated team and Advisory Group with expertise in various fields. With a three-year strategic plan in place, the HJI focuses on tackling health inequalities, particularly during pandemics, with a keen emphasis on race, class, and gender.
