Healthy Families Hutt Valley is a part of the Healthy Families NZ initiative, a large-scale prevention program aimed at promoting better health in our communities. We work alongside community leaders to create healthier environments in the places where we live, learn, work, and play. From neighborhood settings to schools, workplaces, sports clubs, places of worship, and marae, we strive to make a positive impact.

In the Hutt Valley region, we focus on various areas of health and well-being. Our main areas of focus include nutrition and local food systems, physical activity, and active transportation. We also prioritize creating smoke-free environments, reducing alcohol-related harm, and promoting mental well-being and resilience.

With a special emphasis on the unique context of New Zealand communities and the important relationship between Māori and the Crown, our goal is to address preventable chronic diseases such as Type-2 Diabetes or heart disease, risk factors associated with these diseases, and areas with higher levels of deprivation.
