Healthy Futures is a premier initiative under the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame, established in 2003 by Bonny and Sam Young in response to Alaska's alarming obesity rates. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Healthy Futures focuses on empowering Alaskan youth to cultivate the habit of daily physical activity. The program engages over 20,000 children across more than 200 elementary schools in the Healthy Futures Challenge, utilizing activity logs to encourage consistent physical engagement.

In addition to its core programs, Healthy Futures supports numerous community recreational events—over 100 statewide—aimed at increasing youth participation. The program is currently expanding to include middle school students to further its mission. Healthy Futures offers various resources for families and provides opportunities for community support through volunteer initiatives and funding applications. By fostering active lifestyles and community involvement, Healthy Futures is dedicated to creating a healthier future for all Alaskan youth.
