About Heart Berry
Heart Berry, rooted in the tradition of the Anishinaabe people, began as House of Howes in a Northern Minnesota kitchen in 2014. Founded by artist Sarah Agaton Howes, Heart Berry specializes in custom beadwork, quilts, regalia, and moccasins, serving a growing clientele across the Midwest. As the demand for cultural art surged, Sarah embraced her role as an educator, teaching her community the art of creation.
In collaboration with artist Louie Gong and as part of the Inspired Nativeโข Project, Heart Berry evolved into a platform that not only offers unique wearable art but also promotes Native entrepreneurship. The brand's offerings now include custom murals and logos for tribes and organizations, further bridging tradition and contemporary artistry. Heart Berry emphasizes community engagement through classes that celebrate Ojibwe art and history, fostering renewal in traditional practices. With a mission that intertwines creativity, education, and cultural pride, Heart Berry continues to inspire and uplift, embodying the essence of its namesake, the Ode'imin or "heart berry."
