About The Heart Truth
The Heart Truth® is a national health education program spearheaded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) to raise awareness about heart disease, the leading cause of death in the United States. This initiative encourages individuals, particularly women, to adopt heart-healthy lifestyles and emphasizes the importance of early intervention in managing heart health. The Heart Truth® provides a wealth of resources, including easy-to-read booklets on lowering cholesterol through therapeutic lifestyle changes, educational materials for community outreach, and information on the DASH eating plan, which helps manage blood pressure effectively.
The program also focuses on heart health during pregnancy, heart attack symptoms, and the intersection of COVID-19 with cardiovascular wellness. Through partnerships with organizations nationwide, The Heart Truth® fosters a commitment to combating heart disease, promoting awareness campaigns such as American Heart Month and National Wear Red Day.
