Hearty Roots Community Farm, located in Clermont, NY, is a family-run farm dedicated to using sustainable and organic practices to grow the freshest and healthiest food for their community. Founded by Ben and Lindsey Shute, along with a team of ambitious young farmers, the farm covers 70 acres of land and currently cultivates about 25 acres of vegetables per year. In addition to vegetables, they also care for a flock of laying hens and manage 25 acres of pasture and fallow fields.
Hearty Roots is committed to producing high-quality and delicious food that is healthy for both consumers and the environment. Their fresh produce is certified organic by NOFA-NY Certified Organic, LLC. Beyond organic standards, the farm strives to improve the long-term health and fertility of their soil, play a positive role in the ecosystem, train a new generation of farmers, and maintain fair wages and worker-friendly employment policies.
With a deep respect for the land, Hearty Roots values the connections between farmers, consumers, and the local community. Through their dedication to sustainable farming, they provide a diverse range of organic vegetables, eggs, pork, and sheep products. They also offer farm stays, a farm market, and a seedling sale for those interested in experiencing the farm firsthand.
