Heathlands is a person-centred learning community in Cumbria focused on enhancing wellbeing and health. Based at Heathlands Farm near Carlisle, it offers a wide selection of supported daytime opportunities for people seeking learning, activities and community connection. Its services include Heathlands at Home, online support and accredited supported learning and activities, alongside innovative and inclusive community projects.
The organisation also runs a Care Academy, providing a route through which people from hard-to-reach groups have gained meaningful employment, and offers student placements and volunteering opportunities. Heathlands highlights a supportive community approach and reports that many staff members have remained with the organisation for 14 years or more. The website identifies the Laurie Brewis Trust (LBTUK), a registered charity and limited company, and invites donations to support its work.
Through its programmes and community initiatives, Heathlands aims to make opportunities accessible and contribute to the wellbeing of individuals across Cumbria. Its services are designed around people, with supported daytime provision forming a central part of its work
