The Schweizerische Hebammenverband (SHV) is the professional association representing midwives in Switzerland. Committed to enhancing the midwifery profession, the SHV offers a variety of services and resources for its members including ongoing education, professional support, and a platform for networking. The organization plays a vital role in advocating for the rights and recognition of midwives, facilitating a conducive environment for dignified births.

Focused on quality of care, the SHV promotes midwife-led birth assistance in hospitals and provides a wealth of information through its online platform, including statistical reports and recommendations. The association also runs various educational programs for aspiring midwives, offering degrees and advanced training options.

Celebrating milestones like the International Midwives Day and advocating for crucial issues such as a father’s leave, the SHV strives not only to centralize expert knowledge but also to address societal and health policy initiatives. Whether interested in midwifery, looking for a midwife, or seeking professional development, the SHV stands as a key resource in the Swiss healthcare landscape.
