HECH Functional Nutrition is a brand that was established in the 1970s by Eberhard and Gertrud Heidrich. Their passion for nutritious ingredients and herbal plants, combined with a family background in agriculture and manufacturing, led them to create a company focused on promoting physical health and well-being. Originally based in the Westerwald region of Germany, known for its abundant vegetation and the first German herb farm, Eberhard Heidrich aimed to develop innovative nutrient products that went beyond vitamins and minerals, filling a gap in the market.

Inspired by specific dietary needs within their own family, they initially created formulas for milk and plant-based proteins. In the 1990s, in collaboration with sports and health experts, the company furthered its protein expertise by specializing in supplements based on amino acids and collagen peptides. As the family tradition continued, Frank and Rolf Heidrich took over the company, bringing their 20 years of experience in the food and branding industry in the USA, Asia, and the UK.

With the relocation of the company to Berlin and the introduction of a shortened version of the family name, HECH expanded its role as a pioneer in high-quality nutritional supplements, specifically for the beauty sector. Research has shown that proteins, with their unique peptide and amino acid structures, not only serve as building blocks but also play a crucial role in maintaining beauty. Today, the HECH team consists of in-house nutrition scientists and a culturally diverse workforce with a passion for developing products that cater to ever-changing needs and lifestyles.

Female employees hold key positions in beauty nutrition-related functions, and products are only introduced with the approval of the broad HECH team. For years, we have been partnering with Hotel Hope Ministries, a non-profit organization based in Johannesburg, that provides orphaned or abandoned children with a safe home and helps them find adoptive families.

One of our employees recently visited Hotel Hope Ministries and shared her experience: Hotel Hope Ministries not only offers the children a safe space and a new home to live in, but they genuinely welcome the children and invite them to be part of a loving family. What deeply touched and inspired me is that most of the children come from difficult family circumstances and have already experienced traumatic situations at a young age. Despite these circumstances, the children were heartwarmingly friendly, sociable, trusting, and loving, even though they didn't know me at all.

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to visit Oliver, the CEO of Hotel Hope Ministries, his incredible team, and the adorable children in Johannesburg. I have great respect for the daily work they do. They not only provide the children with a place where they can feel at home and safe but also give them a loving family, an education, and the opportunity for a bright and self-determined future.
