Hedley Roberts is a contemporary artist known for creating evocative ‘non-portraits’ that explore the complexities of identity through layered painting techniques. Drawing inspiration from images shared by his social media friends, Roberts crafts works that begin with recognizable features but gradually transform into abstract representations of internal dialogues and socio-political landscapes. With a rich educational background that includes prestigious institutions like the Royal College of Art and The School of Visual Arts in NYC, he is deeply committed to nurturing emerging artists, leading multiple residency projects across Europe.

His solo exhibitions, such as "Other Portraits" at New Art Projects in London, showcase his unique approach that challenges conventional portraiture. Roberts has participated in numerous group exhibitions globally and his work is held in various esteemed collections. Residing and working between Margate and London, he continues to push the boundaries of artistic expression while advocating for diversity and inclusion within the arts.
