Český helsinský výbor 🇺🇦

The Czech Helsinki Committee is a Czech organisation dedicated to defending human rights and protecting people’s rights. Its work combines public advocacy, independent monitoring, information and support through a range of long-running and current initiatives. The Committee monitors conditions in prisons, including the treatment and rights of people serving sentences, held in pre-trial detention or placed in security detention. It also addresses the needs of children whose parents are imprisoned through its “Invisible Children” project, and promotes family connection and wellbeing through “Being Together Is Normal” and “Being Together Is Healing.”

Other areas of work include information for citizens of Ukraine and support for people seeking compensation for unlawful sterilisation. The organisation publishes news, documents and policy positions, and holds events to bring attention to human rights issues, including the experiences of children affected by parental imprisonment. Based in Prague, the Committee invites people to get involved as volunteers and welcomes financial donations to support its activities. Its projects are supported by sponsors, including the City of Prague.
