Helden-Software is a character-management tool for players of Das Schwarze Auge, the German pen-and-paper role-playing game also known as The Dark Eye. It helps users create, advance, and manage their heroes, with support for the game’s fourth-edition rules, version 4.1. Its supported material includes the settings Die Dunklen Zeiten and Myranor, several supplementary rulebooks, and selected rules and professions from other publications. The software is intended for players who own the relevant rulebooks and understand the game’s rules; newcomers are advised to seek help from an experienced player.

Players can use Helden-Online to store characters online and access them while away from their usual device. The program’s capabilities can also be extended with plugins, and character-sheet printouts can be customized with personal background images. The website provides downloads, news, a forum, a wiki, frequently asked questions, known-issue information, and a way to report bugs. Helden-Software offers practical tools for organizing characters and supporting play within the rules and settings it covers.
