HeldFood

HeldFood is a food and community initiative founded by Rick Kamphuis, bringing together catering, shared cooking and stories of recovery. Its work grew from Rick’s experience in addiction recovery and support, and from a project launched with a 2021 grant from Stichting Socialrun. HeldFood began recording interviews with people connected to recovery, including care professionals, trainees, peer-support workers and fellow members of self-help communities. The initiative now operates a refurbished food truck and works with people Rick has met through his work as a peer recovery supporter in addiction care.

HeldFood serves festivals, celebrations and groups of different sizes, with vegan finger food as its specialty. It also prepares buffets, including for groups of up to 150, and can meet a requirement for at least half the dishes to be plant-based. Alongside food service, HeldFood offers cooking workshops where participants prepare a snack together and connect the activity with themes of recovery.
