About Helem
Welcome to Helem, the first LGBTQIA+ rights organization in the Arab world. Established in Beirut, Lebanon in 2001, Helem is dedicated to the liberation of individuals with non-conforming sexualities and/or gender identities in Lebanon and the SWANA region. At Helem, our mission is to lead the struggle for LGBTQIA+ rights and empower young leaders to advocate for their own liberation.
We provide a range of services and initiatives to support our community, including a helpline, advocacy programs, and a community center. Our goal is to create spaces where our diverse communities can come together, build power, and leverage unity. We are committed to protecting and supporting individuals through education, community building, and legal assistance.
