The Helen Chamber of Commerce in Helen, Georgia is dedicated to enhancing the unique Alpine experience of the town. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Chattahoochee River, Helen is a charming re-creation of an alpine village with cobblestone alleys and old-world towers. The town has a rich history linked to the Cherokee Indians and early settlers who arrived in the early 1900s for gold mining and lumber industry.
In 1968, local businessmen met to revive the town and approached an artist friend who had lived in Germany. With his help, the buildings were transformed with gingerbread trim, details, and colorful facades, reflecting the alpine look. Today, Helen offers a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors, combining mountain heritage and a touch of Bavaria.
The chamber of commerce promotes events and assists the community and businesses to thrive while preserving the town's unique character
