The Helen Clark Foundation, also known as Mahi a Rongo, is an independent, non-partisan public policy think tank based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. It aims to support a healthier, fairer, more prosperous and sustainable future for Aotearoa New Zealand through evidence-based research and policy advice. Guided by values of inclusion, fairness and sustainability, the Foundation draws on international best practice while offering a distinctly local perspective.
Its research addresses four broad areas: building a sustainable and resilient future; fostering a healthier, fairer society; growing a prosperous and equitable economy; and navigating a turbulent world. Topics include climate change, infrastructure, mental health, food systems, inequality, productivity, foreign policy, social media, and public governance. The Foundation shares its work through research reports, publications, news and opinion, webinars, and in-person events.
It also partners with organisations that share its aims and invites public support for its work. The Foundation’s patron is former New Zealand Prime Minister and former United Nations Development Programme Administrator Helen Clark
