Helium

Helium is a people-powered wireless network that enables individuals and businesses to help build and own shared connectivity infrastructure. Operated by Nova Labs, the brand aims to expand coverage and offer an alternative to traditional wireless models through community-deployed Hotspots. Participants can share internet access and earn rewards for contributing to the network.

Helium supports two networks: Helium Mobile, a cellular network designed for phones, and Helium IoT, a low-power, long-range network for connected devices, machines, and sensors. Its Hotspots provide coverage for mobile users and IoT devices, while businesses can explore services such as carrier offload and Helium Plus. Owners of existing hardware may be able to bring it onto the network through self-service options or the Plus Program.

The network’s economic system uses HNT, a cryptocurrency that helps support its growth and rewards participants. Helium also shares case studies showing how Hotspots are used by internet providers and local businesses to address coverage needs.
