HKIn Perhokalastajat

Helsingin Perhokalastajat ry is a Helsinki-based fly-fishing association founded in 1992 to develop its members’ fly-fishing skills and knowledge. Its community welcomes both experienced anglers and beginners, bringing together around 130 members who share an interest in fly fishing and fly tying. The association offers a varied programme of member activities, including club evenings, fly-tying instruction, casting practice, fishing trips, equipment introductions and annual competitions.

Members can also borrow books, specialist magazines and instructional videos from the association’s library. Through these activities, the club helps people build their skills, enjoy fishing together and connect with like-minded anglers. Its work also extends to protecting migratory fish.

For more than a decade, members have restored the lower reaches of Helsinki’s Mätäjoki River to support spawning by the endangered sea trout. The river now supports regular spawning by sea-run trout, and trout have become its predominant fish species. Helsingin Perhokalastajat combines education, recreation and practical conservation in an active community dedicated to fly fishing
