HEMP-it is an agricultural cooperative based in Anjou, France, dedicated to developing a responsible and innovative industrial hemp sector. Founded in 1964, it brings together 180 seed-multiplying farmers and a team of around 40 employees. The cooperative selects, produces and sells industrial hemp seeds, with varieties developed for different uses, including fibre, grain and hemp shives.
Research and variety development are central to HEMP-it’s work. Through its specialist entity, HEMP-it-ADN, the group develops new varieties in response to the needs of farmers, industry and consumers, considering factors such as yield, production methods, quality and resistance to pests. The cooperative also provides cultivation advice, training and access to a certified analysis laboratory, alongside technical documentation and information about hemp’s applications.
Recognised as a Producer Organisation since December 2023, HEMP-it represents its members’ technical and economic interests within the European hemp sector. Its work is guided by a commitment to sustainable agriculture, quality, innovation and the long-term development of industrial hemp.
