The Hen House is a locally rooted retail destination in Spencer, Iowa, known for fine gifts, luxury home décor, and specialty foods. Purchased by two friends in 2016, the store draws on their combined experience in retail goods, home décor, and custom furnishings. In 2022, it expanded its selection to include high-quality extra virgin olive oils, vinegars, and gourmet goods, complementing its broader collection of products for home and gifting.

Customers can shop oils and balsamics, sea salts, spices and rubs, sauces, beverage syrups, and other gourmet foods, alongside bath and body products, fragrance, books, furniture, kitchen goods, lighting, candles, textiles, wall art, mirrors, clocks, and women’s accessories. The Hen House also offers floral services, gift cards, a gift registry, and classes.

Its in-store eatery, Peckish, serves a full lunch menu, handcrafted cocktails, and other drinks. Dishes are prepared with fresh, local ingredients and paired with the store’s premium olive oils and vinaigrettes.
