Henle Beard Family History is a family-history website documenting the lives, journeys, and descendants of the Henle and Beard families, whose story begins in Buckfast, Devon, England. It brings together their German and Scottish heritage and follows how family members built new lives across three countries, including England, Canada, and Australia. The narrative centers on Martin Stanislaus Henle, a German monk who came to Buckfast as a teenager, served at St Mary’s Abbey, and later married Lilian Beard of Northwood Farm.
Together they raised nine children at Dart Bridge Farm, where the family worked the land and welcomed visitors. The site recounts their experiences through the First and Second World Wars, farming life, family milestones, and the emigration of their children and descendants. Its materials include a family story, photographs and a gallery, newspaper coverage, and a family tree, with a contact section for visitors.
Designed for descendants and anyone interested in the family’s history, the website preserves personal memories and historical details about a family shaped by migration, community, and changing generations
