Henry Street Community Preschool is a small, community-based early childhood service in Merewether, Newcastle, New South Wales, located in the original school building on Henry Street beside Merewether Public School. It welcomes children aged three to five and caters for up to 20 children, supported by three to four educators each day. The preschool operates from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, during school terms.

The preschool offers a warm, welcoming setting where children and families can feel at home. Its experienced educators, many of whom have worked at the service for years, provide continuity and care grounded in an understanding of early childhood development. Learning is guided by a play-based philosophy: through hands-on experiences and meaningful activities, children are encouraged to explore, imagine, create and connect with the world around them. The outdoor playground features natural spaces and quiet nooks designed to support calm exploration. Henry Street Community Preschool acknowledges the Awabakal people as Traditional Custodians of the land and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
