About New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung
NB Herald, the result of a merger between the New Braunfels Herald and the Zeitung, has a long and significant history as the first German newspaper in Texas. Serving New Braunfels and Comal County since 1852, the Herald-Zeitung is deeply rooted in the community. The Zeitung, which started in 1852, faced opposition due to its pro-Confederacy stance during the Civil War.
However, it persisted, with editors like Anselm Eiband and Ludolph LaFrentz making their mark. The Herald, on the other hand, started its journey around 1890 and quickly became the town's first English-language newspaper. Over the years, the Herald-Zeitung has evolved, adapting to the changing needs of its readership.
Today, it is primarily an English paper with a small German section. With a strong focus on local news, the Herald-Zeitung continues to be a reliable source of information for the New Braunfels community
