The Recovery

Homes Empowering Recovery (HER) provides safe, affordable, substance-free supportive housing for people recovering from substance use disorder. Its mission is to help residents build recovery skills, establish positive routines, and develop a sense of home, purpose, health, and community. Through HER House in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia, residents can focus on recovery in a calm setting while connecting with peers and local resources.

HER follows the Social Model of Recovery, encouraging residents to learn from one another, draw on their strengths, and take part in peer governance and group decision-making. Mentorship, fellowship, and shared experiences are central to daily life. The organization highlights access to employment opportunities, healthy friendships, community involvement, and nearby recovery services, including mutual aid groups, 12-step meetings, and the Community Services Board. HER offers information about its housing and application process, with a digital application available on desktop and mobile devices. It also welcomes community support through gifts, volunteer opportunities, and an Amazon wish list. HER House is a VARR-certified recovery residence.
