About Edmonton Heritage Festival
The Edmonton Heritage Festival is a vibrant three-day celebration of multiculturalism held annually in the picturesque river valley of Edmonton. This year, the festival will take place online from August 1st to 3rd, 2020, showcasing over 40 countries, each sharing their unique culture through a virtual format. Organized by the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association, Heritagefest brings together Alberta-based cultural groups to celebrate their history, music, dance, and food.
The festival is guided by its Board of Directors and supported by a dedicated staff, emphasizing core values of cultural diversity, inclusion, and community. Recognized by the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF) as an “Intangible Cultural Heritage Asset,” the festival leverages global marketing opportunities and gains international recognition. The Edmonton Heritage Festival plays a significant role in promoting intercultural understanding and acceptance, aiming to foster a sense of belonging among diverse communities.
